Where Stories Weave Together

Hi there, glad you made it. Pull up a seat and let’s get cozy talking all things therapy and mental health.

If life’s a tapestry, what threads have you been weaving?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always had this fascination with tapestries. What goes into making them? How many strands did it take to make this piece? How many different colors are here? I’ve dabbled in some of this work and always found it interesting how the front of my work looks so put together; but when I flip around to the back, I can’t help but notice the hot mess of piling, knotting, and general dishevelry. How does this cacophony of strands not only exist, but somehow come together and form a resounding work of art?

In life, I’ve often found this phenomenon to be true of our stories as well. I believe we are all complex creatures with narratives that bob and weave through our past experiences. These narratives shape how we perceive our present and influence our future. So what’s this thread about here? Have we noticed the softer strands at work in the background? How do we untangle that confusing knot over there?

Not only do I love untangling knots, but I’m also quite passionate about helping others see their tapestries for all that they are~ challenging, sobering, unpleasant, courageous, unique, and altogether beautiful. After everything you’ve seen and experienced, I want to help you make sense of your story. Once you see yourself for who you are rather than who someone told you to be, then you can begin the honest work of becoming who you alone were intentionally and authentically designed to be.

It’s true, you can’t change the past, but you can use it as a road map for your future. And no, you can’t control every thread you’ve been given… but you do have a right to decide how these threads come together. So, why not decide on today? Seems like a good day to try your hand at a new weave.

Specialty Focus

Anxiety

Let’s shoot straight here, with the days we’re currently living in, everyone faces anxiety and depression on some level. There’s a lot of unknown and uncontrollables out there. In times like these, it’s important to understand what you’re experiencing and how to better support yourself through the experience. In my practice I prioritize emotional insight and regulation through somatic awareness. Together, we will learn to tune into the wisdom our bodies communicate to us and respond accordingly. Through skills such as mindfulness, compassion, grounding, and self-care, we will learn to navigate these times with more grace and confidence.

Codependency

Do you notice a particular pattern in your romantic relationships? Have you struggled to feel seen and heard in friendships? Maybe your family is driving you crazy and you have no idea what setting a boundary would even look like. One of my favorite things about my practice is the opportunity to sit down with individuals and help them create healthier more authentic relationships with themselves as well as others. Through the lens of Attachment and Family Systems Theory, I will help you better understand where you came from, why you have the patterns you do, and the incredible power you have to choose differently and more authentically in alignment with who you are and want to be.

Trauma

Have you recently experienced a traumatic event or loss? Maybe you’ve just honestly had a series of difficult and complex experiences throughout your life. Whether it’s chronic or acute, together we will prioritize finding safety and security in your body again. In my practice, I implement trauma-informed and evidenced-based practices through means of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These approaches serve to help you move past survival, through trauma, and on to thrive.

Relational Stress

Do you seem to have a pattern of taking care of others? Maybe you find you’re often giving more than receiving in relationships? Perhaps you find yourself a highly capable and independent person, but somehow the people around you can’t get their lives together and somehow you can’t seem to take a step back from trying to run their lives for them. Maybe you’ve even found yourself in the midst of narcissistic abuse. Whatever the case, I’m very passionate about helping others learn to break cycles of addiction to others and their messes. My heart’s desire is to see you learn to choose you; to love and give to yourself with the same passion you give to others.

To my fellow anxious overanalyzing peeps- Welcome. Sometimes new people and places are overwhelming. Personally, I’m visual and love knowing what to expect. Click the button below to see more about where you’re headed.
