A Personal Warm Welcome from Therapist, Shelby Bristow

Hey fellow traveler, feeling a little turned around?

I get it. Life has a way of getting quite gnarly, in both the best and worst of times. As you search for a local therapist, I imagine you sitting across your screen feeling a variety of emotions. Perhaps tired, overloaded, or even a bit numb. Maybe you’ve had some major transitions come your way, and you’re still finding your footing in the middle of it all. If you find yourself stuck in patterns that feel a bit heavy or relationships that have become tense, I want you to know I see you in that struggle. You are far from alone, and you certainly aren’t forgotten.

My hope as your personal therapist is simply to help you remember who you truly are at your core. I believe that a humble, compassionate self-love is the gentle thread that allows everything else in life to fall into place. It takes so much courage to show up and do the hard work of loving ourselves and others, but I’m convinced it’s what makes this beautiful, crazy, and wild life worth living.

A Space to Soften and Understand

Perhaps you’re looking to understand yourself with a bit more curiosity, to know how you relate to others and what causes you to react rather than respond. Maybe you’ve experienced moments of pain or trauma that you need a safe space to process, or perhaps you’re longing to feel a bit more at home in your own skin and would like to establish a kinder mind-body connection.

In my mental health practice, I tend to prioritize the early relationships and attachments that shaped our individual stories. I’m fascinated by how our early chapters and attachment patterns narrate our present-day lives. Together, we might gently look at how you learned to move through the world and examine which of those rhythms are still serving you, and which ones might be ready for a different approach.

A Compassionate Path with a Counselor/Therapist

I am deeply passionate about helping you feel truly settled in your own body. My heart is to help you understand and communicate more effectively with your nervous system through a soft, trauma-informed lens. As your therapist, I would be honored to hold a sturdy space for you while using a blend of:

  • EMDR & IFS: To help gently unstick the past and meet your internal world with compassion.

  • Somatic Resourcing: To help your body find a sense of quiet and internal safety.

  • Mindful Boundaries: To help you protect the peace you are cultivating.

An Invitation to Work with a Personal Therapist

All this is to say that if you find yourself struggling, I’d love to help you navigate through this season. I’d love to help you make sense of the path you've been walking. I believe understanding is possible for you, and I believe you already have a deep well of resources within yourself to change the way you show up in the world. My heart is to meet you exactly where you are, so that you feel truly seen, heard, and held. As your personal therapist, I have tools I’d love to share with you as we walk down this road together. It may feel like a long journey, but you don't have to walk it alone.
