Therapy for Anxiety and Depression:
Finding Your Way Back to Peace
Life has a way of getting loud. Between the demands of the day and the internal pressure to keep up, it’s easy to feel like you’re just trying to keep your head above water. When you search for counseling for anxiety, you’re often looking for more than just a conversation…you’re looking for a pause button. You’re looking for a dedicated space where the "to-do" lists and the expectations of everyone else finally get quiet.
At Woven Wellness, we don't, we don’t treat your worry as something to be silenced or ignored. Instead, we partner together and get curious about what your anxiety is trying to tell you. Together, we work to understand why your nervous system has been in fight-or-flight for so long, then gently shift back to a state of rest.
Navigating the Seasons of Anxiety and Depression through Counseling
It is a common human experience for these two states to overlap. You might feel the frantic "buzz" of worry even as you feel the heavy weight of exhaustion. In our sessions, we look at therapy for depression and anxiety not as a way to force the sun to come out, but as a way to understand the atmosphere of your nervous system.
We might aim to shift your internal climate in the following ways:
Creating a Sense of Ease
In anxiety therapy, we don't just talk about the stress; we listen to the body. We might together wonder why your internal alarm is stuck on "high" and use gentle, somatic tools to help your nervous system ground and recognise cues for safety and rest.
Lighting the Way Back
My approach to treating depression is refocusing on values and clarifying identity. Together, we explore contributing thought patterns and life circumstances. We then begin refocusing on creating meaning and purpose in life. What makes you tick? We then develop a coherent action plan for walking in alignment with your purpose. Along the way, we'll focus on strengthening upregulation skills that support an engaged nervous system and help you feel like yourself again.
A Fluid
Approach
Because your needs might change from week to week, we take a flexible counselling approach towards anxiety and depression. Often issues of anxiety and depression show up in the every day issues. In efforts to avoid rigidity, I meet the energy you bring into the room. If today is a pressing-forward kind of day, excellent. If today's more of an "I need to be and have someone bear witness to me" kind of day, I'm so happy to witness you.
An Invitation to a Gentler Life
This isn't about "remodeling" who you are. It’s about recognizing that the way you feel right now is an understandable response to the weight you’ve been carrying. Together, we might prioritize:
Compassionate Curiosity: Looking at the roots of your anxiety and depression without any hint of judgment.
Patiently Paced Work: Allowing your healing to happen at a pace that feels like a relief, rather than another demand on your time.
Reclaiming Your Core: Remembering the version of yourself that exists beneath the anxiety and the fog.
Beginning the Journey Together
Whether we sit together in Mobile, Birmingham, or through a virtual sanctuary anywhere in Alabama, I would be honoured to be your partner in this work. You don’t have to keep trying to navigate the high tide of anxiety or the low ebb of depression on your own.
